Join us for an exciting evening where project pitches and collective generosity join forces to affect real change. Enjoy some light refreshments as you mingle with like-minded guests and discover more about the projects. Hosted by Courtney Talbot, President of the Queensland Library Foundation and Andrew Baker, Managing Partner of Perpetual Private, this event features presentations from three State Library experts showcasing their innovative projects. You’ll have the chance to cast your vote for the project you think should receive $30,000 in funding. Your $150 (tax-deductible) donation gives you entry, a vote, and the opportunity to help bring one of three transformative State Library projects to life. Tickets will go on 13 March Looking for a fun and eco-friendly way to get creative with sewing? Our upcoming workshop series is just for you. At The Edge we often experiment with innovative ways to reuse our large vinyl signage. In this workshop, we’ll show you how to repurpose the material to create items such as shoulder bags, aprons and dining place mats. Over two Saturday sessions you'll be guided through every step of the process by our experienced facilitator, who will teach you how to work with vinyl material to create something special to take home. Plus, as part of the workshop they’ll take you through a Sewing Induction (valued at $45) which allows you to book and use The Edge sewing equipment for free. Our recycled vinyl sewing workshop is open to all skill levels. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a complete newbie, you're sure to have a great time and learn something new. Caring for your collections: military medals and mementos

Join us at Anzac Square Memorial Galleries for a free talk on the care and preservation of military-related collections. We invite you to join Melanie Sorenson, Specialist Conservator at the State Library of Queensland, for an informative afternoon focused on the care and preservation of military-related items in your collection. Whether you have medals, wartime mementos, or other historical objects, this session will provide valuable insights into the best practices for their protection and longevity. Melanie will share expert tips on how to properly store and care for these important items, helping you appreciate their cultural and historical significance while ensuring they remain in good condition for years to come. This session is an excellent opportunity to learn practical techniques for preserving your collection and to connect with others who share an interest in history and conservation. After the talk, visitors can stay to explore the Memorial Galleries, embarking on an interactive journey from the First World War to today, before taking time to reflect on the remarkable stories of bravery and sacrifice in the tranquil parklands. Anzac Square Memorial Galleries is located at 285 Ann Street, Brisbane. Entry is through the double brass doors located beneath the Shrine of Remembrance.
